Tomoka Nakagawa vs. Mercedes Martinez
It’s a battle of Fisherman Variations as Dave Prazak kindly reminds us as often as possible. The match starts off respectfully enough with both women failing to get a steady over the other. That is until Nakagawa counters a Fisherman Buster. Shortly after Nakaga pulls out a brilliant move and unties the refs shoelaces to distract which allows her to choke Martinez with some part of her pants. Smart!
The match continues in the same vein for the rest of the match. Nakagawa is usually in control but ultimately Mercedes proceeds to pull through and regain the upper hand. It ends with Mercedes proving that her variation, the Fisherman Buster is superior.
Um…good match? Technically speaking there was nothing wrong with it. There’s just not a lot to talk about. Not much of note was pulled and they had a fairly conservative match, almost felt house show-ish. I don’t know, maybe I’m just getting burned out.
