Day 3 2024

NXT: Gold Rush Night 2 (06/27/23)

Heritage Cup Title Match

Dragon Lee vs. Nathan Frazer(c)

Six three minute rounds, 2/3 Falls, DQs end the match entirely, and ties go to the champion. Let’s go. Round 1 is fairly uneventful. It’s just two solid wrestlers trading quick and athletic chain sequences. Round 2 starts much in the same way but Frazer lands the first big shot with a Running Dropkick. The champs in control but it doesn’t last long. The two end up on the rope and Lee tries for a Super Hurricanrana but Frazer rolls through into a pin for the first fall.

Round 3 is more like round 2 but overall uneventful outside of Lees big dive to the outside. R3 wraps during a commercial and Round 4 starts hot with Frazer taking to the air. Once back in the ring the two trade strikes. It’s back and forth and fast paced, just like I like it. A School Boy Lifting Powerbomb ends the round and ties things up. No time left for bullshit, Lee starts round 5 with a Shotgun Dropkick at insane speed. Like someone lit a firecracker in his ass. He tries to follow up but gets stopped with a gorgeous Superkick from the champ. The two continue to go balls to wall, throwing everything at each other.

Frazer almost loses when a Superplex follow through is countered into an Orange Crush courtesy of Lee which earns the match a deserved “This is awesome” chant. The two trade roll ups but neither prevail and the round is winding. Finally, Frazer rolls Lee up but Lees shoulders aren’t down. Lee counters into a roll up of his own for a two count but Frazer counters again to end the match 2-1 right as the round ends.

My God I loved this match. These two are excellent together. My words can’t do justice to some of the stuff in this match, it’s just so smooth and so quick. I need more of these two wrestling in my life. Paul, get on it.
